Agat is a southern village that borders the Philippine Sea and lies just south of Naval Base Guam. It is part of the Haya (Southern) District. The village’s main road, Route 2, weaves through several commercial and residential areas including The Agat Community Center, Nimitz Beach, and Agat Marina. Agat has many historical and natural attractions, such as Agat Beach, Ga’an Point, Spanish Bridge, and several War in the Pacific National Historical Parks. The village’s name comes from the word “Aga,” the CHamoru name of the Marianas Crow – a large black bird that makes the sound “aga” while flying.
