Mongmong-Toto-Maite is a unique village that consists of three separate communities: Mongmong, Toto, and Maite. It is located in the central-eastern part of the island and has a population of about 6,000 people. Mongmong-Toto-Maite has a rich history and culture, as it was one of the first places where Spanish missionaries established a church and a school in the 17th century. Mongmong-Toto-Maite also has many scenic spots, such as Nimitz Hill, Paseo de Susana Park, and Agana River. Regarding Mongmong-Toto-Maite’s name, “mongmong” describes the sound of a heartbeat, “toto” means to recline, and “maite” (or “ma’ette”) means to nudge another person.
