Yigo is the northernmost and largest village in Guam, nicknamed “The Gateway to the North.” It is home to Andersen Air Force Base, which holds a bi-annual airshow that is a must-see event for those interested in aviation. Yigo also has many natural attractions, such as Mount Santa Rosa, and Tarague Beach. Likewise, Ritidian Point is an expansive wildlife preserve with hiking trails, beaches, and stunning views of the ocean. Yigo’s name may come from the Spanish word “yugu” which means a yoke, the device fitted on a carabao to attach a cart or plow.
