Congratulations!

Congratulations!

Congrats! Before you take the keys…

You have found your dream property, made an offer, secured your financing, and completed the escrow, inspection, and appraisal process. Congratulations! You are almost ready to take the keys and move in. But before you do, there are some final steps and tips that you should know about. Here are some of them.

  • Closing escrow is the final step of transferring the ownership of the property from the seller to the buyer. It involves signing the closing documents, paying the closing costs, and receiving the deed and the keys. Closing escrow typically takes place at the escrow office or a title company and lasts for an hour or two.
  • Final inspections are the last chance to check the condition of the property and make sure that everything is in order and working properly. It involves walking through the property with your agent and the seller or their agent and verifying that all the repairs and contingencies have been completed and that no new issues have arisen. Doing final inspections typically takes place a few days before or on the day of closing escrow and lasts for 30 minutes to an hour.
  • Other tips before moving in include:
    • Reviewing your closing statement and making sure that all the numbers and fees are correct and that there are no errors or discrepancies.
    • Confirming your moving date and time with your movers or helpers and making sure that you have all the necessary supplies and equipment.
    • Changing your address with the post office, utility companies, banks, credit cards, subscriptions, and other services.
    • Updating your home insurance policy and transferring it to your new property.
    • Making copies of your keys and giving them to trusted family members or friends in case of emergencies.
    • Cleaning your old property and leaving it in good condition for the next owner or tenant.
    • Packing an essentials box with items that you will need for the first night or day in your new property, such as toiletries, clothes, bedding, snacks, drinks, phone chargers, etc.
    • Taking pictures of your new property before you move in and documenting any existing damages or defects for future reference.
    • Celebrating your new home with your family and friends and thanking everyone who helped you along the way.😊

These are some of the things that you should know about closing escrow, doing final inspections, and other tips before moving in.
